Job Summary

We are seeking a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Children's SLT team in Birmingham, a vibrant multicultural city.

The successful candidate will have a special interest in bilingualism and be passionate about promoting and sharing good practice with SLT colleagues and partners.

Main Duties

  • Provide Speech and Language Therapy at a highly specialist level, with a specific focus on bilingualism, in partnership with other agencies and disciplines.
  • Demonstrate clinical leadership in bilingualism and represent the local team/service area in meetings to support and develop quality services for bilingual children and young people.
  • Manage a team of SLT staff, comprising of bands 4 to 7, and develop strong and effective working relationships with colleagues.
  • Apply BCHC Trust policies regarding staff management with fairness and compassion.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to discussions around setting the direction for the service, including foreseeing risks and opportunities.
  • Link in with regional and national colleagues to benchmark best practice and bring it back to the service to contribute to service planning.
  • Review and interpret research evidence relevant to the specialist area and contribute to discussions on how to implement findings to the benefit of the service.
  • Manage staff performance and disciplinary matters within the designated team.
  • Support the Professional Leads and Service Clinical Manager in the development and implementation of an appropriate training programme for members of the team.

Person Specification

  • First degree level qualification, relevant to the service area.
  • HCPC Licence to practice.
  • Full Membership of Professional body, relevant to the service area.
  • Evidence of recent relevant CPD activities in the specialist area.
  • Relevant training in clinical leadership.
