About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Racial Justice Development Lead to join our team at Charity People. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and implementing the Diocesan Anti-Racism Charter (ARC) across the Diocese of Southwark.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advocacy and Promotion: Advocate for racial justice within Diocesan structures, promoting best practices in diversity, inclusion, and belonging with a biblical foundation.
  • Support and Advice: Provide support and advice to parishes, deaneries, and clergy on implementing the Anti-Racism Charter and developing culturally appropriate worship and faith practices.
  • Collaboration and Engagement: Collaborate with parishes, schools, and Area Racial Justice Groups to share experiences, support meetings, and coordinate events related to racial justice.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report data on racial injustice, ensuring alignment with Diocesan and National Church Requirements, while staying informed on relevant trends.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of racial justice, anti-racism, equality, and inclusion, especially within a church context. They will have proven ability to lead engagement/change programmes and collaborate with diverse stakeholders from various disciplines and perspectives.

Experience in organizing medium to large events and a willingness to understand the structure and dynamics of the Church of England and its Dioceses is desirable. Collaboration is a core value for Diocesan staff, and therefore, the successful candidate must be able to work as part of a team.
