Ribble Rivers Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Conservation and Volunteering Officer. This exciting role will play a key part in our mission to conserve the Ribble Catchment and its rivers, brooks, becks, and streams.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a range of conservation activities, including tree planting, woodland maintenance, fencing, wetland plug planting, and fish passage. They will also be responsible for managing volunteers, ensuring they work safely and deliver positive conservation actions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver conservation activities, including tree planting, woodland maintenance, and wetland plug planting
  • Manage volunteers, ensuring they work safely and deliver positive conservation actions
  • Develop and implement conservation plans, working closely with the team and stakeholders
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of conservation activities
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to achieve conservation goals
Requirements
  • Valid driving licence and own car, insured for business use
  • Degree level or equivalent related experience in the environment sector
  • Knowledge of a range of catchment processes and how they interact
  • Experience in delivering conservation activities and managing volunteers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and evenings
Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the Ribble Catchment
  • Qualified in the use of chainsaws, brush cutters, and knapsack sprayer
