Ribble Rivers Trust Conservation and Volunteering Officer

Ribble Rivers Trust is a regional charity dedicated to conserving the Ribble Catchment, particularly its rivers, brooks, becks, and streams. We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our team as a Conservation and Volunteering Officer.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our team to deliver a range of conservation activities, including tree planting, woodland maintenance, fencing, wetland plug planting, and fish passage. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality habitats, ensuring volunteers work safely, and delivering positive conservation actions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement conservation plans to improve the Ribble Catchment
  • Manage and coordinate volunteer activities, ensuring a positive and engaging experience
  • Collaborate with the team to deliver habitat conservation activities
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and information management
  • Use GIS to support conservation efforts
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences
Requirements
  • Valid driving licence and own car, insured for business use
  • Degree level or equivalent related experience in the environment sector
  • Knowledge of catchment processes and their interactions
  • Experience in delivering conservation activities and managing volunteers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and evenings
Desirable
  • Knowledge of the Ribble Catchment
  • Qualified in the use of chainsaws, brush cutters, and knapsack sprayer
