Specialist Pharmacist, Women and Children

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join our Women and Children's clinical pharmacy team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist to develop their career and contribute to the professional journey of our junior workforce.

You will be an integral part of a supportive and welcoming clinical team that shares a vision to continually develop the service and professional careers of its members, with the ultimate goal of providing excellent patient care.

The pharmacy department is highly regarded within the trust, and we are looking for an experienced pharmacist to join us in representing the pharmacy service and trust values.

As a pharmacist in this role, you will be embedded in the clinical team, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, attending ward rounds and playing an integral part in the patient care journey.

You will be supported in your personal development, and you will be actively encouraged to evolve your clinical, professional and leadership skills, through coaching and mentoring, and by completing training courses and formal qualifications.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, and will be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

They will have at least 2 years' experience in the NHS, and will have a strong clinical knowledge of current therapeutics and pharmacy practice.

The role will require the ability to provide complex advice and guidance, and to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide excellent patient care.

The role will require one late finish per week, weekend shifts 1 in 5, and approximately one Bank Holiday shift per year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a patient-focused and clinically competent pharmacy service to inpatient paediatric, maternity and neonatal wards.
  • Work with and develop rotational pharmacists, technicians, and trainees within the directorate.
  • Play a role in the on-going development of pharmacy services within the directorate.
  • Act as a role model and pharmacy ambassador, and demonstrate leadership qualities.
