About the Role

We are seeking an experienced pharmacy technician to join our team at NHS Dorset as a Pharmacy Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment, contributing to the development and implementation of medicines optimisation strategies across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in medicines optimisation, working closely with clinicians and other stakeholders to ensure safe and effective use of medicines.
  • Develop and maintain the Dorset Formulary, ensuring it remains a credible and trusted document for medicines commissioning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with system partners to ensure medicines are aligned with the health needs of our population, and work to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities.
  • Support the development and implementation of digital solutions to improve medicines optimisation, including the use of data analytics and other technologies.
  • Provide advice and guidance on medicines commissioning and governance, working closely with pharmacists, clinicians, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of medicines-related policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with national and local guidelines.
  • Work closely with the senior management team to develop and implement strategies to improve medicines optimisation and reduce healthcare costs.
  • Represent NHS Dorset at local and national meetings, providing expertise and advice on medicines optimisation and governance.
