Job Description

Salary: £48,300 - £50,000 per annum

We deliver sophisticated software solutions and managed services in a Private Cloud infrastructure, servicing both traditional and modern real-time, smart energy clients.

Your Role:

  • You will join our dynamic team as a Cloud Support Lead, with line management responsibility for multiple engineers across shifts and serve as an escalation point for technical and operational issues.
  • You will drive project delivery and support cross-team efforts as a key technical stakeholder.
  • Participate in R&D to deliver innovations improving efficiency and effectiveness of our infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Guiding and mentoring team members in a collaborative work environment.
  2. Overseeing complex infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and deadlines.
  3. Providing expert guidance on technical issues as an internal escalation point and a key contact for other departments.
  4. Solving Major incidents and performing post-incident analysis.
  5. Offering efficient and friendly 3rd line support to internal and external customers.
  6. Assisting the Cloud and Technical Services Manager in managing the team, ensuring shift/on-call cover.
  7. Delivering technical workshops within the business and to customers when needed.
  8. Maintaining and monitoring infrastructure platforms to meet defined SLAs and organisational requirements.
  9. Collaborating with vendors and service providers to procure necessary hardware, software, and services.
  10. Documenting builds and processes, contributing to the internal knowledge base.
  11. Maintaining current infrastructure knowledge and staying informed about future trends to drive innovation.
  12. Identifying and raising changes according to the company's change management procedures.
  13. Ensuring compliance with professional standards including ISO27001 and regulatory requirements in the Energy Industry.

Position Qualifications:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Computer/IT related discipline (desirable).
  • Microsoft Certifications (MCSE) or MCP in relevant subject (desirable).
  • VMWare Certifications (desirable).
  • CompTIA A+ certification (desirable).
  • AWS/Azure certifications (desirable).
  • ITIL (desirable).

About You:

  • Experience leading, managing, and motivating others in a team environment.
  • Background in 1st/2nd/3rd line IT support.
  • Experience with enterprise infrastructure including clustered VMware servers, storage arrays, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server environments including Active Directory, GPO, Exchange/O365, IIS, SCCM, VMM.
  • Understanding of automated monitoring and centralised patching tools.
  • Familiarity with automation techniques like scripting, Ansible, Terraform, Lambda etc.
  • Knowledge of firewalls and network segregation.
  • Good understanding of infrastructure security and hardening procedures.
  • Proven track record in leading and delivering complex infrastructure projects.
  • Experience deploying and configuring into cloud environments.
  • Ability to identify incident trends and escalate incidents according to standard protocols.
  • Able to gather information systematically to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
