About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Learning Disability Educator to join our team at Mencap's Training Academy. This exciting opportunity involves teaching young people with learning disabilities, difficulties, and/or autism to access the world of work.

Job Description

This role is part of our Internship programme, where we combine education and work experience to prepare learners for employment. As a Learning Disability Educator, you will focus on delivering the educational element of Supported Internships programmes.

  • Teach English and Maths by embedding them into lessons about employability
  • Deliver further life skills that impact learners' interactions with their community
Key Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities
  • Experience working towards targets
  • A-C/9-4 English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
  • Recognised teaching qualification at level 5 (DTLLS, PGCE, CertEd) or working towards
  • Knowledge and experience delivering functional skills English and Maths up to level 2
  • Good classroom management skills and strategies
  • Good time management and planning skills
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additionally, you can enjoy:
