Job Title: Senior Commercial Manager

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join our Defence Commercial, Legal & Contracts team at Thales. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing commercial expertise and guidance to our business, ensuring that we achieve our commercial objectives and deliver value to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Proposition Development: Develop and implement commercial propositions for major win-business campaigns, working closely with our sales and marketing teams to ensure that our commercial offerings are aligned with our business strategy.
  • Contract Management: Provide advice and recommendations to our business on commercial issues, risks, liabilities, and opportunities, ensuring that we are well-positioned to manage and mitigate risks associated with our contracts.
  • Commercial Negotiations: Support senior management in commercial negotiations with customers, consortium partners, and other third parties, ensuring that we achieve the best possible outcomes for our business.
  • Cost Management: Provide bid and project teams with advice, recommendations, and costings pertaining to UK and international contracts, including direct selling costs, credit insurance, bank guarantees, and letter of credits.
  • Issue Management: Identify and manage issues and disputes arising with customers, working closely with our legal function to ensure that we are well-positioned to resolve any disputes that may arise.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced commercial professional with a strong background in the defence, aerospace, or technology sector. You will have a proven track record of providing commercial expertise and guidance to businesses, and be able to demonstrate your ability to work in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.

Requirements:

  • Commercial Background: A strong commercial background in the defence, aerospace, or technology sector, with experience providing commercial expertise and guidance to businesses.
  • Experience: Proven experience working in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment, with a strong track record of delivering commercial results.
  • Qualifications: A degree in a relevant field, such as law, engineering, finance, or programme delivery.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and written skills, with the ability to understand pricing, risks, and mitigation of contracts.
