About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join our Defence Commercial, Legal & Contracts team at Thales. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for proactively managing and directly influencing our bids and projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide commercial advice and recommendations to the business on commercial issues, risks, liabilities, and opportunities related to business relationship agreements, bids, and projects.
  • Develop commercial propositions for major win-business campaigns, including identifying and mitigating commercial risks.
  • Support senior management in commercial negotiations with customers, consortium partners, and third parties, including procurement and sub-contractors.
  • Provide bid and project teams with advice, recommendations, and costings related to UK and international contracts, including direct selling costs, credit insurance, bank guarantees, and letters of credit.
  • Respond to and negotiate customers' proposed contractual agreements and contract changes, and support senior management in managing such changes.
  • Identify and manage issues and disputes arising with customers in conjunction with the legal function.
About You
  • You will have a commercial background in the defence, aerospace, or technology sector, with experience providing commercial/contract management expertise through bidding and winning business, and thereafter programme delivery.
  • You will have demonstrable experience working within a complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-site organization.
  • You will possess multi-disciplinary experience, ideally with qualifications in at least one of the following areas: LLB, Engineering, Finance, or Programme Delivery.
  • You will be adept at building and managing relationships across all levels and throughout the identify, bidding, negotiation, and delivery phases of bids/projects.
  • You will have proven analytical and written skills and the ability to understand pricing, risks, and mitigation of contracts.
