Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Palliative Care Nurse to join our team at The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth. Our Hospice provides high-quality care to patients with cancer, HIV, and other life-threatening illnesses, and we are looking for a skilled professional to contribute to our multidisciplinary environment.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of skilled nursing care and professional practice, promoting a progressive attitude to patient care through research and evidence-based practice, and acting as a role model and expert clinical practitioner. They will also supervise and teach trained staff, healthcare assistants, and student nurses, and assist the Ward Manager in leadership and management of the hospice in-patient unit.

Person Specification

We are looking for an experienced Palliative Care Nurse with a strong background in specialist palliative care or oncology. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable practice that is evidence-based and up-to-date, and experience of identifying and dealing with risks encountered within their practice. They will also be able to use assertive communication skills, conduct audits in an objective and efficient manner, and support junior/less experienced staff.
