Academic Mentor for Young People

We are seeking a skilled and empathetic individual to fill the position of Academic Mentor for Young People in our specialist school in Smallfield, Surrey. As a mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Autism, helping them to achieve their academic potential and develop essential life skills.
Job Description:
- Support Students: Provide tailored support to students with Autism, addressing their specific needs and challenges.
- Develop Skills: Encourage students to develop their social, emotional, and academic skills, fostering independence and confidence.
- Classroom Operations: Assist the Class Teacher in managing daily classroom activities, ensuring a productive and inclusive learning environment.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with teaching staff and other support workers to provide comprehensive support to students.
- Communication: Develop effective communication strategies to engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
Salary: £22,000 - £28,000 per annum.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- GCSE Qualifications: Hold GCSE Maths and English qualifications at Level 3 or Grade C or equivalent.
- Teaching Assistant Qualification: Possess a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification (desirable).
- Experience: Have experience working in a special school environment (highly desirable).
- Training: Possess Team TEACH Training (desirable).
