Lead Academic English Position in London

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Academic English Department Lead to join our team at an outstanding secondary school in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to take on a leadership role and contribute to the academic growth and development of our students.

About the Role:

  • Lead the Academic English department, responsible for managing and developing the subject area.
  • Raise standards of student attainment and achievement within the subject/curriculum area, monitoring and supporting student progress.
  • Ensure the provision of a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for students studying in the department, aligning with the academy's aims and curricular policies.
  • Teach relevant subjects across the age and ability range.
  • Foster a learning environment that enables students to achieve their individual potential.
  • Effectively manage and deploy staff, financial, and physical resources within the department.
  • Collaborate with the school to provide opportunities for personal and academic growth.

Requirements:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, ideally with management training.
  • Demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE at good or better level.
  • Experience in initiating and effectively managing change.
  • Show evidence of raising achievement in current post, demonstrating good value added for groups.
  • Knowledge of current curriculum developments in the subject and their implications.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of current educational thinking.
  • Understanding of how children learn and how to raise standards of achievement.
  • Effective communication skills in speech and writing.

Location and Benefits:

This school is based in London, close to motorway routes and public transport links. Parking will be available on site. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered to the successful candidate.

The estimated salary for this position is £42,600-£63,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
