About the Role:

As a Prisoner Custody Officer with Serco, you will play a vital role in providing safe and secure escorting and custody services to detainees. Your primary focus will be on the physical and mental wellbeing of those in your care, ensuring their safety and security throughout the court process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accompany defendants in court rooms and cells, ensuring their safety and security at all times.
  • Search property or people as required, maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Ensure food and drink are available to detainees, adhering to dietary requirements and cultural sensitivities.
  • Complete paperwork and data entry for the day, maintaining accurate records and adhering to company policies.

What We're Looking For:

We're seeking individuals who are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of others. Our ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to manage and control all situations with ease. A current valid driver's license and reasonable fitness level are also essential.

Our Assessment Process:

Our recruitment process includes an online assessment, a briefing call to assess eligibility, a competency-based virtual interview, and a short role-play and written exercise. All roles are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 4, and all offers of employment are subject to Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 checks with Enhanced DBS (Adult & Child Barring) and satisfactory employment references.
