Distribution Systems Technician

About the RoleThis is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of electrical engineering, working on a wide range of projects from constructing new substations to maintaining existing infrastructure. You will be responsible for installing and maintaining high voltage plant and apparatus, including transformers, switchgear, and cable terminations.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is passionate about their career and committed to studying. As an apprentice with National Grid plc, you will have the opportunity to earn while you learn and develop well-rounded skills, learning from experienced and qualified professionals in the industry.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Construct distribution substations and install plant
- Carry out routine inspection, maintenance and repairs of substation and protection equipment
- Install and terminate secondary wiring (small wiring)
- Record asset routes, details and positions
- Test earthing, voltage, phasing and phase rotation
