Research Vessel Support Staff Needed

Oregon State University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Vessel Support Staff member to join our team.

About the Role

You will be responsible for supporting the Ship's Master in the operation of OSU operated research vessels, including assisting with galley operations, collecting and stowing stores, supplies, and equipment, and performing other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining the galley, mess hall, and storerooms.
  • Help prepare and serve meals to crew members.
  • Collect and stow stores, supplies, and equipment, ensuring accurate inventory and storage.
  • Participate in fire drills and assist with light maintenance and painting on deck.
Requirements
  • A minimum 6 months of experience as a cook's helper or similar role.
  • A Merchant Mariner's Credential and a Food Handler's card.
  • The ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • The ability to obtain a passport and complete fire fighting training.
  • Successful completion of First Aid and CPR Training.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • No incapacitation by sea-sickness.
Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year
