About the Position：We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Relief Chief Mate to join our team at Oregon State University's Ship Operations unit. In this position, you will be responsible for assisting the Ship's Master in the operation and maintenance of our Research Vessel (R/V) Taani.

Your Key Responsibilities：
  • Operate radios, radars, electronic navigation equipment, fathometers, ship control equipment, winches, cranes, boats, and research support equipment as necessary.
  • Meet Coast Guard drug testing requirements.
  • Ability to obtain a passport.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Our Work Environment：As a member of our team, you will work on board OSU operated research vessels at sea on research cruises that may last from one day to three weeks or more before returning to port. You will work in ocean and weather conditions which are highly variable, and may be required to work weekend and holiday shifts.
