About the Position:
Oregon State University is seeking an experienced Ship's Second Mate to join its Ship Operations team in Newport, Oregon. This is a full-time, hourly position with opportunities for advancement and professional growth.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Ship's Master in navigating and operating research vessels at sea
- Conduct shipboard and ship-to-shore communications
- Supervise deck department personnel during the Chief Mate's absence
- Participate in shipboard drills and emergency training
What We're Looking for:
- Two years of vessel operations experience in assigned area of responsibility
- STCW endorsements as appropriate for this position
- Ability to obtain a passport
- Ability to speak, read, and write English
