The Role

We're seeking an experienced Data Centre Technician to join our team. As a Data Centre Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and promoting high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality. You will also be a great team player, delivering technical excellence and supporting the planning and coordination of rack space allocation within the data centres and comms rooms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality.
  • Deliver technical excellence and support the planning and coordination of rack space allocation within the data centres and comms rooms.
  • Audit the Onyx-Conseil estate IT communication rooms in accordance with the JSP 604 framework and document/report findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Responsible for code changes within the secure IT environment and keep stakeholders informed of code updates.
  • Diagnose and follow through to resolution any problems, escalating to team members or other teams and vendors when required.
  • Support the Technical Service Manager and Team Leaders in maintaining the operational status, maximising availability of assets to programme demanders.
  • Record and report on power consumption, cooling, and utilisation of assets within the data centres and comms rooms at Onyx-Conseil sites.

Requirements

  • Good communicator (written and oral) with sound facilitation skills and capable of providing up to-date information regarding the communications environment to stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate under pressure and influence decisions.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to provide a resolution to ensure that the communications environment is compliant in accordance with MOD regulations.
  • Technical investigation and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly proficient computing skills.
  • All necessary training & qualifications for this role will be provided.
  • This role will involve being part of an on-call rota (1 in 4 weeks).

Security Clearance

All candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
