Job Summary
The Department of Health and Social Care is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Regional Director of Public Health to join our team in the South West region. As a key member of our public health team, you will play a critical role in implementing new government and NHS policy, collaborating with local systems, and driving population health outcomes.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the Regional Director in leading the delivery of regional priorities for public health across the three domains of public health (improvement, protection, and healthcare public health).
- Deputise for the Regional Director and lead on key public health initiatives, working closely with local government Directors of Public Health and their teams.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, NHS trusts, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and coordination of public health efforts.
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance to public health teams, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest public health research, policy, and best practices, applying this knowledge to inform decision-making and drive positive change.
Requirements
- Inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice/GDC Specialist List or inclusion in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists.
- Public health specialty registrar applicants on the UK public health training programme and not yet on the GMC, GDC, or UKPHR specialist register must provide signed documentary evidence that they are within 6 months of gaining entry to a register by the date of the interview.
- Meet minimum CPD requirements and be up to date in accordance with Faculty of Public Health or other recognized body requirements.
- Hold MFPH (Membership of the Faculty of Public Health) by examination, exemption, or assessment, or an equivalent qualification.
- Hold a Master's in Public Health or equivalent.
