Deputy Director for Health Improvement, South West

The Deputy Director for Health Improvement is a senior-level position that requires a highly experienced public health professional to lead the implementation of government and NHS policies in the South West region. This role involves collaborating with local systems, partners, and stakeholders to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities.
Main Responsibilities- Provide expert advice and support to the Regional Director on health improvement and workforce development strategies.
- Manage a team of health improvement and workforce development staff to deliver high-quality services to the local community.
- Develop and implement health improvement and workforce development plans that align with national and regional priorities.
- Collaborate with local authorities, NHS trusts, and other stakeholders to build and develop the local public health system.
- Support the Regional Director in strategic oversight of the contribution to improving and protecting public health in the South West region.
The Office of Health and Disparities (OHID) in the Department of Health and Social Care drives the government's health improvement agenda. We lead the development and delivery of policies to improve and level up health outcomes, with a focus on public health, prevention, and health disparities.
Requirements- Eligibility for registration with the GMC or UKPHR as a public health specialist.
- Strong commitment to public health principles and team working.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and innovative approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
