Deputy Director for Health Improvement, South West

The Deputy Director for Health Improvement is a senior-level position that requires a highly experienced public health professional. This role offers a unique opportunity to join the South West regional public health team and contribute to the implementation of new government and NHS policies.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe Deputy Director will have day-to-day operational responsibility for the provision of safe and effective health improvement and workforce development advice and support. This will involve managing a team of health improvement and workforce development staff who deliver functions devolved to the region from the Secretary of State and national guidance.
About the RoleThe Deputy Director will support the Regional Director in the strategic oversight of the contribution to improving and protecting the public's health and reducing health inequalities in the South West region. This will involve working with partners in the South West to build and develop the local public health system through the provision of expert advice and insight.
Requirements- Applicants must meet either of the following: Inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice/GDC Specialist List (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- or Inclusion in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- All candidates must meet the faculty of Public Health Competencies expected of all public health consultants/specialists.
