About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Director of Capital Projects to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our capital development plans, property investments, and space management strategy.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in leadership and achievement at a senior level in a relevant field, with a strong track record of formulating long-term strategic plans and developing projects resulting in positive value for money outcomes.

As a key member of our executive team, you will provide strategic leadership in property and space management, collaborating with partners to deliver cost-effective services and optimise our assets through effective oversight of holdings, acquisitions, and disposals.

You will also oversee the planning, design, and delivery of healthcare facilities to meet our clinical, research, and administrative needs, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement asset management policies and estate strategies that align with our goals.
  • Establish design standards for new builds and refurbishments, ensuring alignment with our specifications and sustainability goals.
  • Present development proposals to stakeholders, aligning them with our objectives.
  • Oversee contract procurement and quality management of engineering and facilities to ensure compliance and effective issue resolution.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Education

  • Professional qualification in architecture, surveying or other construction-related discipline.
  • Relevant Masters or MBA qualification, or equivalent professional qualification or experience.

Professional/Statutory Registration

  • Relevant professional registration e.g. architect, engineering, surveying or in construction or design.
  • Expert in project management in a design or construction context.

Previous Experience

  • Extensive, successful track record of leadership and achievement at a senior level in a relevant field in a large, complex environment.
  • Experience of formulating long-term, organisation-wide strategic plans and development of projects resulting in positive value for money outcomes.
  • Able to demonstrate previous success in providing innovative and creative property solutions.

Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 per annum.
