About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work in a specialist HIV Mental Health Team, providing mental health assessment and brief treatment for HIV patients.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments of patients with complex mental health disorders related to their HIV diagnosis.
  • Provide brief interventions and follow-up appointments to patients with mental health disorders.
  • Consult with the HIV clinical team regarding the mental health management of patients.
  • Collaborate with the HIV mental health team psychologists to offer joint assessments and consultations.
  • Onward refer patients who require support from other services.
  • Assess and manage risk, sharing concerns with others involved in patient care.
  • Advise on psychiatric medication needs and interactions with ARVs.
  • Develop care plans and treatment formulations for patients seen in outpatient clinic.
  • Write high-quality assessment and treatment reports.

Person Specification

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.

Desirable

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • MRCPsych.
  • Additional clinical qualifications.

Eligibility

The successful candidate will be a fully registered medical practitioner with a licence to practise, and will have the necessary qualifications and experience to work as a Consultant Psychiatrist in HIV care.
