Consultant Psychiatrist in HIV Care

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our specialist HIV Mental Health Team. As a Consultant Psychiatrist in HIV Care, you will work closely with a team of clinical psychologists to provide mental health assessment and brief treatment for HIV patients. You will also consult with HIV healthcare professionals and HIV mental health team members to provide collaborative trauma-informed care.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric assessment and brief interventions to patients with mental health disorders related to their HIV diagnosis.
- Liaise and consult with referrers, including the HIV clinical team, regarding mental health support needs and provision of patients attending the Lawson Unit.
- Contribute to care planning, risk management, and treatment of patients alongside the wider HIV mental health team.
- Work collaboratively with other psychiatric and mental health services within Sussex Partnership to support patients with complex difficulties.

Person Specification
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
