An exciting opportunity has arisen to contribute to the improvement of mental health care and support for individuals experiencing homelessness in Waltham Forest. The successful candidate will work with local homeless hostels to provide Psychologically Informed Environments, developing and delivering specialized training and support to staff to formulate residents' presentations, behaviors, and difficulties from a psychological perspective.
Main Responsibilities- Provide consultation and supervision to local providers of homelessness services in the borough.
- Offer specialist consultation and clinical input to complex cases experiencing homelessness across the directorate, as agreed with the Directorate Lead for Psychological Professions.
- Collaborate closely with other psychology services to ensure a smooth pathway for service-users and their families.
- Lead the homelessness offer in line with national best practice, NICE guidance, and expectations from professionals across the Trust and other agencies.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic group of psychological professionals in Waltham Forest working across systems to address health inequalities and improve the offer to marginalized people. The group includes individuals using community psychology-informed approaches to work with communities and a specialist refugee pathway.
What We OfferNELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training, and equipment allocation.
Person SpecificationEssential
- HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
- Post-qualification experience of teaching, training, and consultation to psychology and non-psychology colleagues and stakeholders.
- Experience of leading initiatives addressing inequalities.
- Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of clients with complex psychological needs in adult mental health.
- Experience of working with high levels of risk and severe mental health difficulties.
- Experience of working with hard-to-engage populations and familiarity with principles of assertive outreach.
