About the Role


The UCL Institute of Archaeology seeks an exceptional Archaeological Data Specialist to support the documentation, digitisation and open access dissemination of archaeological information from across the vast Central Asian region.


This exciting opportunity draws together archaeological data from existing archives, country-based monument records, remote-sensing, field surveys, and other research databases to create a Historic Environment Record for the whole region.


The postholder will be part of a team of researchers based at the UCL Institute of Archaeology, collaborating with staff locally employed across Central Asia.


This is a full-time position (approximately 35 hours per week) available from February until September. The successful candidate will have an MA in Archaeology or a related discipline (such as geography, anthropology, history) and demonstrated knowledge of and research experience in Central Asian archaeology.


They will also possess experience in computational and/or digital approaches in archaeology, using and maintaining databases, as well as expertise in remote sensing and GIS.


The salary for this role is estimated to be around £30,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
