Job Summary:

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Worker Assistant to join our team at Malachi Place, a pioneering residential service in Ilford. As an Assistant Support Worker, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to move on and break the cycle of homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with Support Workers to provide high-quality support services to residents, promoting their independence and well-being.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized support plans, ensuring residents' needs are met and their goals are achieved.
  • Assist with day-to-day activities, including administration tasks, reception duties, and other responsibilities as required.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to residents' needs and concerns in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with residents, colleagues, and external partners, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development, enhancing your skills and knowledge to provide the best possible support to residents.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by homeless individuals, and a commitment to providing person-centered support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing workload effectively.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft packages, and ability to learn new systems and technologies.
  • Language skills relevant to the residents, including Punjabi and Lithuanian, are highly desirable.
