About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Operations to join our executive team and lead the development and effective delivery of our professional services. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and Warden, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to our Academic Registry, Estates and Facilities, Computing and Information Services, and Strategic Delivery Unit.

This is a critical role that requires a strong track record of shaping modern, service-oriented, and cost-effective professional service operations within large and complex organisations, ideally within Higher Education. You will have empathy with our purpose and values, enjoy working in close partnership with senior colleagues, and demonstrate a deep understanding of the Higher Education sector and its challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategies to improve operational efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction across our professional services.
  • Provide strategic leadership to our teams, ensuring they are equipped to meet the changing needs of our university and its stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with senior colleagues, academics, and external partners to drive collaboration, innovation, and alignment across our wider operations.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the Higher Education sector, staying up-to-date with emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Strong leadership and management experience, with a proven track record of driving transformational change within complex organisations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust, credibility, and rapport at all levels.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operational management, including finance, HR, IT, and facilities.
  • A deep understanding of the Higher Education sector, its challenges, and the latest trends and innovations.
What We Offer
