About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Chef to join our team at Dorset House, a caring and friendly residential care home. As a Second Chef, you will play a key role in creating and preparing nutritious meals for our residents, ensuring quality and presentation are always to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

* Plan and prepare meals, consulting with residents and care staff to ensure individual dietary needs and preferences are catered for
* Supervise and support the kitchen team, working closely with the Head Chef to maintain high standards
* Ensure all health and safety legislation is adhered to, and maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
* Cover for the Head Chef when necessary, assuming responsibility for ordering and controlling supplies

Requirements:

* Passion for cooking and ability to meet deadlines
* Experience working in a kitchen producing high-quality meals in high volumes
* Certificate in NVQ Level 2 Food Production/Hygiene or willingness to undertake one
* Understanding of health and safety and other relevant legislation
* Confidence to take the lead when needed, with excellent communication and teamwork skills
