Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Automation Support Engineer to join our team at Müller's Butter Plant in Market Drayton. As an Automation Support Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing systems and people to improve site automation performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reactive Support: Provide timely and effective support for site automation issues, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrate a structured approach to problem solving, identifying and resolving automation-related issues efficiently.
  • Capex Projects: Own and manage minor automation Capex projects, ensuring successful delivery and implementation.
  • Project Support: Collaborate with the Automation Development team to support project delivery of other site projects with automation elements.
  • Facilitation: Facilitate site activities to ensure smooth delivery of centrally managed Capex projects.
  • Software Maintenance: Maintain and monitor the use of automation and electrical system software, ensuring version control systems are up-to-date.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure compliance with group electrical and automation standards for site-delivered projects and general improvement works.
  • Obsolescence Management: Own and manage the site-level Obsolescence and Improvements Plan, focusing on the next level of controls (VSDs, servo drives, instrumentation, etc.).
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluate performance data to inform automation OE activity, driving improvements in efficiency and operability within production.
  • Risk Assessment: Own and manage the site panel risk assessment register, conducting periodic health checks and implementing remedial actions as needed.
  • Specialist Support: Provide specialist automation support to site improvement initiatives, utilizing specialist skills and systems access to validate and analyze site data.

  • Site Roadmaps: Support the development of site roadmaps for Quality, HS, EMS, Engineering, and Autonomous Maintenance.
  • Delivering Ideas: Have opportunities to deliver own ideas to improve our business, driving innovation and growth.
  • Supporting Improvement Activities: Support improvement activities and events within engineering-owned areas, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Business Impact: Understand the impact of own actions and others on achieving site/business OGSM, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Delivering Training: Deliver on-the-job training (show and tell) to new colleagues, promoting knowledge sharing and skills development.
  • Health and Safety: Prioritize the health and safety of self and others, ensuring a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • PLC Experience: Proven experience with PLCs and automation systems.
  • Electrical Skills: Strong electrical skills, with the ability to work on projects alone.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage projects, including minor automation Capex projects.
  • FMCG Industry Experience: Experience in the FMCG industry, preferably in a similar Automation Engineer role.
  • IT Literacy: Proficiency in IT systems and software, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
