About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Building Services Design Manager to join our team at Dalkia. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating, implementing, and managing design solutions for our building services installations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement design strategies that meet customer requirements, including budget and programme constraints.
  • Provide specialist technical support and guidance to our operations teams.
  • Ensure the integration, technical assurance, compliance, health, safety, and sustainability of design and engineering.
  • Coordinate with our Principle Designer and Principle Contractor to ensure regular flow of information and compliance with CDM requirements.
  • Manage and lead a design team to provide effective design solutions.
  • Ensure effective utilisation and cost recovery of staff resources.
  • Collaborate between disciplines to coordinate and manage service requirements.
  • Manage and evaluate competency and capability of direct reports.
  • Develop and implement training programmes for staff.
  • Chair and manage design and technical review workshops and meetings.
  • Manage and create requisition specifications for equipment.
  • Develop and implement strategies for buildability, operability, maintainability, and de-constructability of design proposals.
  • Review and approve design documentation.

  • Constructability analyses.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience at a senior level in delivering building services design and implementing design strategies.
  • Minimum of ten years' experience in a building services or similar regulated industry.
  • Leadership skills to deliver design services in a timely manner with a customer-specific focus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to form effective relationships with partners and delivery team members.
  • Experience of leading a team and/or coaching a team is desirable.
  • Numeracy and report writing is a requirement.
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit and other software applications required to meet design needs.
  • Experience within current forms of procurement.
  • Relevant professional membership with an appropriate institute.
  • A valid CSCS card is a requirement.
  • Excellent IT skills relevant to the business stream.
  • Detailed knowledge of codes of practice, including temporary installations, designer duties, and responsibilities under CDM and other regulatory requirements.
