Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our Paediatric Psychology Service in Newcastle upon Tyne. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering clinical psychology assessment, formulation, and intervention with patients and their families. The ideal candidate will have substantial post-qualification experience of working within a health psychology setting and of working with children and their families.

Main Duties:

  • Delivery of clinical psychology assessment, formulation, and intervention with patients and their families
  • Supporting and working closely with the MDT in the delivery of psychologically informed care
  • Training for staff around psychological models in relation to pain and major traumas
  • Active participant in Service Evaluation and Quality Improvement
  • Clinical supervision of assistants, trainees, and qualified clinical psychology staff as required
  • Line management of clinical psychology staff as required
  • Member of the Paediatric Psychology Managers team

Job Responsibilities:

  • Takes appropriate responsibility for clinical psychology provision to the service in which this post is located and supports the provision of a stand-alone service including demand/waiting list management, reporting, and making recommendations regarding service provision.
  • Provides a qualified specialist clinical psychology service across all sectors of care to the population served by this post providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and therapy.

The successful candidate will be based within our well-established Paediatric Health Psychology team in Newcastle upon Tyne. The Paediatric Health Psychology Service is committed to child and family-centred care and is part of the wider department of Psychology in Healthcare, enabling collaboration and support with adult psychology and neuropsychology colleagues. Although this is a full-time post, we would also be interested in talking to people who would like less than full-time hours. Salary: £45,963 - £70,917 per annum (Band 8b).
