Job Description

Job Title: Commercial Manager/Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager/Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team at The Workshop. As a key member of our commercial team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Minimise cost and risk while enhancing value for money, ensuring compliance with legal standards and quality requirements.
  • Prepare forecasts, estimates, and costs of work in progress, monitoring variations to the contract that may affect costs and time.
  • Produce reports to demonstrate profitability and be involved in every stage of the project from pre-construction to final account from a commercial perspective.
  • Procure sub-contractors, negotiate prices, produce orders, and manage sub-contractors from first contact to final account, including payments and variations.
  • Communicate effectively with the construction crew, clients, and stakeholders, preparing reports and providing numerical and data analysis skills.
  • Stay up-to-date with current building, health, and safety regulations, as well as engineering science, construction, and technology.
  • Utilise computer literacy and confidence in using office and electronic project management programs.
  • Maintain good commercial awareness and ideally hold a postgraduate qualification in a surveying-related subject.

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate qualification in a surveying-related subject.
  • Excellent communication and numerical skills.
  • Strong understanding of engineering science, construction, and technology.
  • Proficiency in using office and electronic project management programs.
  • Good commercial awareness.
