Soft Matter Scientist Industrial Placement

Industry Placements is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Soft Matter Scientist for a 12-month industrial placement. This exciting opportunity will provide you with hands-on experience in a research-driven environment, working alongside our team of scientists to explore the interaction between microbes and antimicrobial agents.

About the Role:

As a Soft Matter Scientist, you will be responsible for carrying out practical lab work and various characterisation experiments using our state-of-the-art SANS instrument. You will learn how to use this instrument to perform structural characterisation of samples and gain insight into small-angle scattering techniques and analysis methods relevant to the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct practical lab work and characterisation experiments
  • Learn and apply SANS instrument operation and data analysis methods
  • Present work through oral and written reports

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university to complete your degree following the placement
  • Required or requested to take an industrial placement year
  • Right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
  • Able to commence employment in summer 2025
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and within a team environment
