Job Description

At Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care. As a Paediatric Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing highly specialist services to children and young people with severe and complex learning difficulties.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Band 6 therapist, working autonomously and without direct supervision. You will be responsible for managing a clinical caseload of children and young people attending Perseid Special Schools, prioritising your workload to ensure effective service provision.

You will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage complex communication needs within the school, including the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices where identified. Additionally, you will provide training to families and school staff to enable eating and drinking programmes to be implemented as part of children's therapy packages.

Main Responsibilities
  1. To be responsible for a clinical caseload of children and young people attending Perseid Special Schools, managing the defined caseload independently and prioritising own workload to ensure effective service provision.
  2. To assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a defined caseload of children with complex communication needs within the school, including the use of AAC devices where identified.
  3. To provide support and training to families and school staff to enable eating and drinking programmes to be implemented as part of children's therapy packages.
