About the Role


We are looking for an experienced Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join our team, providing a highly specialist speech and language therapy service for children and young people with severe and complex learning difficulties.



Key Responsibilities



  • Provide highly specialist speech and language therapy assessment, advice, and treatment to a defined caseload of children and young people with severe and complex needs.
  • Work in partnership with children and young people, their families, and other professions and agencies to reduce the impact of speech and language difficulties on their social and emotional development, learning, and ability to participate in daily life.
  • Contribute to the development of the special schools speech and language therapy service for children and young people.

Requirements



  • Degree/Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Registration with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Postgraduate dysphagia training at intermediate level or Quest


Essential Skills and Abilities



  • Good knowledge of AAC devices appropriate for this population
  • Highly specialist knowledge and understanding of dysphagia to enable appropriate clinical decision making and management of risk
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including observation, listening, and empathy
