Child Protection Specialist
Our services help children who have been abused, protect children at risk, and find the best ways to prevent child abuse from ever happening. Our Children's Services Practitioners have the opportunity to contribute to service development, not only in terms of direct work, but also through influencing, dissemination of learning, involvement in evaluation, and working with children and young people to design new activities and services that prevent sexual abuse.
As a Together for Childhood site, we have joined forces with Plymouth City Council, Plymouth Safeguarding Children's Partnership, safeguarding partner agencies, community groups, fellow charities, and the voluntary sector, schools, and the wider public – with the aim of building a better future for children by identifying and addressing problems at a local level in a truly integrated way.
The focus of our work is on the prevention of child sexual abuse, of which the provision of tertiary services is integral. Therefore, we are recruiting a qualified social worker to join our team and make a difference in the lives of children and young people.
We are currently offering Letting the Future In – a recovery service for children and their families who are affected by sexual abuse, and Harmful Sexual Behaviour Services that include the assessment of, and intervention with, children and young people who display harmful sexual behaviour and support to their families/carers.
This new post will support Plymouth's ambitions to create a wide-reaching approach to Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) and Harmful Sexual Behaviour (HSB). We are looking for a practitioner with a specific interest in this field of work and the skills to work with young people who may have complex trauma history.
Please note that the successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check prior to starting employment.
We are a team that cares about the work we do and the people we work with. You'll discover opportunities to grow, along with challenges and a shared purpose that'll bring the best out in you.
