Job Summary

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and experience in managing a staff team. This leadership role involves providing effective clinical leadership and management of ward staff, ensuring the optimum level of safe and effective care within allocated resources.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver a high standard of care to adult inpatient services users.
  • Ensure the ward complies with all aspects of the Care Act 2014 and meets all requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
  • Provide effective clinical leadership to and management of ward staff.
  • Maintain personal contact with patients, their relatives and carers, being sensitive to their needs for respect, privacy and dignity.
  • Lead on the formulation of staff rotas to ensure the most effective use of manpower and resources in relation to service user need and ward activity.
  • Monitor all staff sickness in accordance with Trust policies.
  • Ensure all staff follow guidelines identified in the Trust and National policies.
  • Participate in the investigation of patient complaints as per Trust Complaints procedure.

Job Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining their own personal development and leading on achieving the training and educational objectives of junior staff. This includes ensuring all staff receive education and training in accordance with the requirements of PREP and Scope of Professional Practice.
