About Us

Beechwood Medical Centre is a forward-thinking, training practice that provides opportunities for the right candidate to grow and develop their skills. We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Medical Secretary and Administrator.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to our clinical team, including:

  • Answering telephone calls and liaising with patients and other clinicians
  • Carrying out secretarial duties as required to maintain the smooth running of the General Practice
  • Booking, changing, and canceling appointments for patients
  • Dealing with post, tasks, scanning of letters, and other duties as requested by the Practice Operations Manager, Business Manager, or Partners
  • Preparing reports for third-party organizations
  • Assisting with the management of QoF (quality and outcomes framework)

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and qualifications:

  • GCSE level or equivalent education
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong IT skills
  • Clear, polite telephone manner
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Effective time management (planning and organizing)
  • Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving & analytical skills
  • Ability to follow policy and procedure
  • Polite and confident
  • Flexible and cooperative

Desirable Qualifications

  • IT or admin qualification at NVQ level III or above
  • RSA level II or equivalent
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people
  • General understanding of health and community services
