Government Relations Director Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Government Relations Director to lead our team in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, specializing in European Government Relations based in London, United Kingdom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Align government relations activities with business goals, identifying key governmental issues and advising leadership on public policy and regulatory matters.
  • Represent our organization's interests at all levels of government, establishing rapport with government officials, industry associations, and trade organizations to advocate for common industry positions.
  • Manage risks to the enterprise from government actions, creating action plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Develop and lead advocacy plans for identified issues, including participating in grassroots activities across the organization.
  • Build effective coalitions with trade associations or outside groups to support our advocacy efforts.
  • Analyse legislative and regulatory proposals impacting the business, developing short-term initiatives and tactics that align with business objectives.
  • Lead internal and external communications related to government advocacy activities, ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
  • Develop, lead, and motivate Government Relations managers and staff, setting goals for training, development, performance, and career planning to build a strong and effective team.

  • Strong skills in leading and developing teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment, while managing multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment to ensure timely and efficient outcomes.
  • Excellent abilities in communication and engaging with stakeholders, building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • In-depth understanding of legislative and regulatory processes in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East regions, with the ability to navigate and influence these environments effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment, ensuring timely and efficient outcomes.
