We are seeking a skilled and friendly Receptionist to join our team at St Georges Surgery. As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our practice.
Main Duties
Provide a helpful and welcoming service to patients, ensuring the reception area is tidy and well-maintained.
Comply with practice procedures for patient registration, temporary patients, and confidentiality at all times.
Liaise with the Reception Manager/Practice Manager as required and follow their instructions in a professional manner.
Ensure an effective and efficient reception service, processing face-to-face and phone requests.
Signpost patients to the appropriate healthcare professional and utilise the appointment system correctly.
Work as a dynamic team member to ensure excellent patient care.
Accurately input data onto the system, with training provided as needed.

Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner.
Receive and accurately convey messages in writing, verbally, and electronically.
Liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner.
Liaise with GPs, other health professionals, and their staff.
Arrange appointments for patients to see GP, nurse, and other clinical staff associated with the practice.
Use excellent communication skills, patience, empathy, and accuracy in your work.
Be reliable and flexible, with experience in adding patient data to clinical systems.
Contact patients to convey test results and instructions as directed by the GPs.
Contact patients to arrange appointments with appropriate clinicians for monitoring or seasonal vaccinations.
Deal with travel enquiries and vaccination appointments as per practice procedure.
Advise patients of relevant charges for non-NHS services, accept payment, and issue receipts.
Prepare medical records for deducted patients to return.
Log new patient records and file them appropriately.
Assist with completion of patient surveys.
Accept and sign for deliveries once items have been checked against the order form.
Keep the reception area, notice boards, and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
Check consulting rooms each day to ensure they have adequate supplies of stationery and couch rolls.
Understand the usage of the practice email and intranet system to ensure effective communication.
Attend practice meetings and undertake any additional duties as requested by the Business/Reception Manager.
