About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Lead Buying Manager. As a key member of our Home Accessories team, you will play a crucial role in driving commercial and profitable ranges to meet our customers' needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Category Strategy and Planning: Support the category strategy review process and translate it into clear plans for your team to drive category growth.
  • Supplier Relationships: Encourage your team to build long-term supplier relationships, improving the trading position in a sustainable way.
  • Supplier Performance Review: Review existing supplier performance and new supplier proposals.
  • Negotiations and Meetings: Lead or support complex negotiations by the buying team, attending regular meetings with key suppliers.
  • Range and Trade Planning: Challenging your team to create a range our customers love, whilst optimising sales and margin.
  • Price and Profitability: Ensure price is competitive and profitable throughout seasonal trading.
  • Category Trade and Events Planning: Work alongside merchandising colleagues to set the category trade and events plan with market-leading and customer-insight-driven promotions and events.
  • Range and Trade Plan Delivery: Ensure the range and trade plans are delivered, safeguarding adherence to the critical path.
  • Buying Trips and Supplier Relationships: Complete buying trips to the sourcing hubs to review new product developments, meet with suppliers, and foster relationships with IS.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Develop and lead a high-performing team, giving them the opportunities to be their best.
  • Budget Management: Forecast and manage your budgets effectively, always being cost-conscious.
Requirements
  • Category Management: Experience in category management, including strategy, planning, open-to-buy, and exit management.
  • Range and Trade Planning: Strong range and trade planning skills.
  • Product Development: Experience in product development.
  • Market and Competition Analysis: A keen eye on the competition and market.
  • Team Leadership: Proven experience in leading and developing teams.
