Job Title: Rehabilitation Physiotherapist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Physiotherapist to join our Integrated Community Stroke Therapy Team at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. This is a 12-month fixed-term position, ideal for those looking to take on new challenges.

The Stroke Therapy Team operates within a collaborative environment that fosters professional development and engagement with research opportunities. We promote an interdisciplinary approach to working with patients to set and achieve person-centred goals, leading to positive rehabilitation outcomes and timely discharge from hospital.

Main duties of the job:

  1. To manage a complex clinical caseload, providing specialized assessment and rehabilitation for patients following a stroke.
  2. Use assessment skills to inform and manage appropriate discharge in both inpatient and community settings.
  3. Promote an inter-disciplinary approach to goal setting while maintaining a strong Physiotherapy clinical focus.
  4. Work collaboratively with patients, families, and other MDT professionals to inform discharge and MDT planning.
  5. Delegate work appropriately to Therapy Assistants and Assistant Practitioners to work towards these goals in supervised and semi-supervised environments.
  6. Facilitate training for patients, their carers, and the wider MDT to promote meaningful engagement with therapy exercises, Activities of Daily Living, and Moving and Handling requirements.
  7. Support the Band 7 clinical lead in delivering specialized therapy services and provide leadership to the team when required.
  8. Provide clinical supervision and leadership to other Physios, Therapy Assistants, and Assistant Practitioners, promoting continued engagement with Continuing Professional Development activities.
  9. Provide a compassionate, inclusive, and respectful therapy service to all patients and their families.

About us:

Our NHS trust provides healthcare services from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, and Westmorland General Hospital. We also have community healthcare premises, including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

**Salary:** Estimated salary range £35,000 - £45,000 per annum.

Person Specification:

  • Health and Care Professions Council registered Physiotherapist.
  • Honours Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy approved by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy/Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Evidence of relevant post-graduate specialist clinical education.

Desirable:

  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Experience:

  • Comprehensive rotational experience as a Staff grade in the core competencies within physiotherapy.
  • Evidence of effective written and oral communication skills in English in a variety of settings.
  • Understanding of legal responsibilities within the profession.
  • Knowledge of audit tools and awareness of organisational and clinical standards in Physiotherapy.
  • Hold a driving license and have access to a car.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and skills around Stroke Specific Assessments and Treatment.
