About the Role

Livewell Southwest CIC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Dental Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our Oral Health Improvement team, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing oral health improvement activities across Plymouth, South Hams, and West Devon.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate defined Oral Health Improvement activities in line with national oral health strategies.
  • Work closely with clinicians to ensure effective and efficient delivery of oral health programmes.
  • Undertake oral health appointments with patients, including adults, children, and those with special needs or medical conditions.
  • Apply fluoride varnish under the prescription of a clinician.
  • Collaborate with the wider Livewell services and external organizations to support vulnerable groups in the local community.
Requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of the factors affecting oral health and the scope of oral health improvement programmes.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and organize own workload with minimum supervision.
  • Knowledge of dental equipment and materials.
  • Competent in recognizing and dealing with medical emergencies.
