Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Nurse to join our team at Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a Research Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of mental health research studies, working closely with our research team and external partners to ensure the successful recruitment of participants and the collection of high-quality data.

Main Responsibilities
  • Take the lead on the set up and delivery of mental health studies, recruiting participants to time and target, and managing site files and monitoring visits.
  • Provide information and education on research projects to interested parties, in verbal and written format, and present research protocols to multidisciplinary groups to encourage participation.
  • Actively promote mental health studies and raise awareness of our research initiatives by attending trust-wide forums and conferences.
  • Assess the suitability of patients to participate in clinical trials and other high-quality studies, and provide patients with specialist information regarding their participation.
  • Provide high standards and continuity of care for participants during the research study, and work as part of a team to coordinate and manage research within expected timelines.
  • Liaise closely with the principal investigator/research team and other services involved in the delivery of research studies, and participate in the process of initial and ongoing informed consent for research participants.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with specialist mental health knowledge and understanding of the mental health research agenda, as well as experience of communicating complex information with service users and carers, and presenting to a range of audiences, face-to-face and virtually.

The ideal candidate will have a degree (or equivalent qualification) in a subject relevant to mental health research or mental health professional qualification, and clinical registration. They will also have experience of recruiting participants to research projects, working independently and as part of a dispersed team, and working in a clinical research environment.

We are committed to safeguarding adults and children, and as part of our safe recruitment practice, the successful applicant will be subject to a check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) if it is deemed appropriate for the role.
