Join Our Team at South West London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our Community Rehabilitation Service. As part of our commitment to providing high-quality care, we are looking for a dedicated professional to work with adults aged 18-65 with complex mental health needs, including co-occurring substance use issues.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mental health and substance use, with experience in rehabilitation settings and a commitment to improving recovery outcomes. They will work closely with our clinical team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and occupational therapists, to provide expert assessments and develop individualized care plans.

The Community Rehabilitation Service provides a supported living model with 24-hour waking night cover, delivering an integrated and rehabilitation-focused model of care. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist clinical input and advice to support colleagues within the service and external agencies.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing specialist assessments and interventions for adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use issues
  • Developing and implementing individualized care plans in collaboration with the clinical team
  • Working closely with external agencies to provide expert advice and support
  • Providing clinical supervision and training to staff
  • Leading the promotion of evidence-based practice in mental health and substance use
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in a relevant clinical subject, such as mental health nursing, occupational therapy, or social work
  • Current professional registration in a relevant clinical subject
  • Clinical supervision training
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development
  • An appropriate professional qualification to supervise students in training
  • A qualification in a relevant area of practice, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or substance misuse
Experience

We are looking for a candidate with at least 4 years of experience in a field of mental health, with 2 years of experience at band 6 or equivalent. You will need to have experience of working in a multi-professional team, supervising staff, and working with people with co-occurring mental health and substance use issues.

Knowledge and Skills

You will need to have knowledge of current mental health and substance use policy, guidance, and legislation, as well as the legal and ethical issues relating to healthcare. You will also need to have knowledge of the theoretical frameworks of care for service users presenting with co-occurring mental health and substance use issues.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, and a Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.

We offer a competitive salary of £51,883 to £58,544 per annum, inclusive of outer London HCAS.
