About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at East London NHS Foundation Trust. As an Educational Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver a wide range of interventions, projects, and system changes to support whole school and whole community approaches to mental health.
  • Work closely with schools and other external partners to address the most prominent needs of children and young people.
  • Conduct mental health assessments and screenings, and make assessments of risk to ensure the well-being of children and young people.
  • Deliver specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people, and their families, including Guided Self-Help, CBT, and parent work.
  • Liaise and work effectively with the wider network around the child, including educational, social care, family, and health services.
Person Specification
  • Successful completion of the HEE commissioned 1-year 'Education Mental Health Practitioner' or IAPT 'Child Wellbeing Practitioner' postgraduate diploma.
  • Post-qualification experience as an EMHP and experience of working in schools.
  • Experience of working with children and young people, their families, and others in educational and health settings with mild to moderate mental health problems.
  • Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with children and families, and conduct group parenting and group young person programs.
