Job Title: Asset Inspector

Carrington West is seeking a skilled Asset Inspector to join our team. As an Asset Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our construction projects.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Monitor and inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with contract specifications and quality plans.
  2. Collaborate with contractors to identify and address quality issues.
  3. Record and document daily site activities, including plant, personnel, and weather conditions.
  4. Inspect works that will be covered up as part of the permanent works and work collaboratively with the contractor to correct defective work.
  5. Agree defective works with the contractor and record on site quality systems.
  6. Provide suggestions for improvement to the supervisor.
  7. Observe on-site health and safety aspects of the contractor's operations and inform the contractor's supervision staff and the supervisor of key H&S risks and/or areas for improvement.
  8. Attend meetings as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Significant relevant practical work experience within the Highways or Bridge sector.
  2. Trade qualification or HNC in Civil or Building related discipline.
  3. Familiarity with the MCHW - Specification for Highway Works and associated testing and inspection protocols.
  4. Ability to read drawings and specifications and understand key testing points.
  5. Driving Licence.
  6. CSCS Card.
  7. NRSWA supervisor for the highways inspector.
Competencies and Behaviours:
  1. Ability to liaise confidently with the contractor on all testing technical matters and inspections as required.
  2. Ability to work within a team and request support where necessary.
  3. Proactive approach to the resolution of issues.
  4. Diligent and logical approach to problem solving and record keeping.
  5. Ability to liaise confidently with the contractor on all observed unsafe health and safety practices or near misses.
  6. Good communication skills working within a collaborative team environment.
  7. Excellent record management skills (e.g., daily diaries) including the use of app-based record keeping products.
  8. Familiarity and competence in the use of Office software/data capture devices and apps.
