Job Title: Asset Inspector

Carrington West is seeking a skilled Asset Inspector to join our team. As an Asset Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our construction projects.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Quality Assurance: Ensure that the contractor adheres to the contract specification, testing, and certification requirements.
  2. Best Practice Promotion: Promote best practice across the delivery team.
  3. Site Observations: Observe the contractor's working operations for compliance with the specification and record daily ongoing works.
  4. Defective Works: Inspect works that will be covered up as part of the permanent works and work collaboratively with the contractor to correct defective work.
  5. Agreement and Recording: Agree defective works with the contractor and record on the site quality systems.
  6. Improvement Suggestions: Suggest areas for improvement to the supervisor.
  7. Health and Safety: Observe on-site health and safety aspects of the contractor's operations and inform the contractor's supervision staff and the supervisor of key H&S risks and/or areas for improvement.
  8. Meetings: Attend meetings as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Practical Experience: Significant relevant practical work experience within the highways or bridge sector.
  2. Trade Qualification: Trade qualification or HNC in civil or building-related discipline.
  3. Specification Knowledge: Familiar with the MCHW - Specification for Highway Works and associated testing and inspection protocols.
  4. Drawings and Specifications: Ability to read drawings and specifications and understand key testing points.
  5. Driving Licence: Driving licence.
  6. CSCS Card: CSCS card.
  7. NRSWA Supervisor: NRSWA supervisor for the highways inspector.
Competencies and Behaviours:
  1. Liaison Skills: Ability to liaise confidently (and if necessary assertively) with the contractor on all testing technical matters and inspections as required.
  2. Teamwork: Ability to work within a team and request support where necessary.
  3. Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to the resolution of issues.
  4. Record Keeping: Diligent and logical approach to problem-solving and record keeping.
  5. Health and Safety: Ability to liaise confidently with the contractor on all observed unsafe health and safety practices or near misses.
  6. Communication Skills: Good communication skills working within a collaborative team environment.
  7. Record Management: Excellent record management skills (e.g., daily diaries) including the use of app-based record-keeping products.
  8. Software Competence: Familiarity and competence in the use of Office software/data capture devices and apps.
